Cooperstown Farmers' Market
CFM continues its  “eat local" campaign. Efforts will focus in part on the 100-mile Diet, which encourages people to support local farmers, eat healthier, create a secure food supply, boost the local economy and save energy. The only indoor farmers' market in the region, the CFM features 28 returning full- and part-time vendors in 2007 and has welcomed four newcomers thus far this season. For the first time ever, the market spaces were fully booked before the season even began! The market is located just off Main Street in Pioneer Alley and operates each Saturday, rain or shine, May through December. For more information about joining the market, or about special events and the market in general, visit www.otsego2000.org/farmersmarket/ or call 547-6195. The Cooperstown Farmers' Market is sponsored by Otsego 2000.

Hawk Circle
Wilderness Education
Hawk Circle is an environmental education center that is on the cutting edge, or next step, of environmental education. Mentoring techniques help students to expand their understanding of themselves, the earth and their communities through positive challenges of skill, expression and adventure. Youth are served in after school and summer camp programs and mentors are trained mentors in our intensive residential semesters and graduate program. Hawk Circle's work encompasses the environment of our natural world, through actual contact with stone, bark, wood, animal tracks, clouds and birds.

We support the Otsego Lake Festival because we believe that our natural heritage must be appreciated and known, and we must have passionate community members who will protect and serve future generations. We want to help make this happen, through inspiring our greater community to learn, share and understand it through direct contact with the natural world. The native peoples of this area used their skills to survive for centuries without destroying the lake; perhaps we can learn from these ways......

James Traglia's Caribbean Steel Drum Sound
Crane School 1982 graduate James Traglia will be performing at Otsego Lake Festival  from 3-5:00 P.M.  Mr. Traglia is a music teacher in the Herkimer Central School district since 1983. Besides teaching and playing the steel drum with his digital drum machine he is also a professional trumpet player.  The steel drum is a great cultural  instrument which is beginning to be utilized in schools across America.  Currently, Traglia started the first steel band in Herkimer County schools.  More information can be found at www.caribbeansteeldrumsound.com.

Natura Productions
Natura Productions (NP) shares rare picture-graphics about nature, especially the essential human connection to water.  Many of the NP images feature wooden boats, especially canoes.  Natura Productions is committed to education and preservation, and to that end, a portion of NP profits benefit organizations that preserve our natural environment and traditional wooden watercraft.

Otsego 2000
We believe that the long-term economic well-being of the region and the quality of life for its residents derives from these resources and their stewardship. Thus, we seek to protect these attributes for the benefit of present and future generations. We advance our mission through informed advocacy, public education, innovative projects, economic alternatives, and strategic campaigns. While the star of this event is certainly Otsego Lake, people should not lose sight of the fact that the Otsego Lake watershed encompasses approximately 75 square miles and includes two counties, five towns, and the Village of Cooperstown. We believe that each municipality in the watershed shares a sense of ownership in this festival, as well as in the lake itself.

Otsego County Conservation Association
The Otsego County Conservation Association (OCCA) is a not-for-profit, membership organization dedicated to the protection, appreciation and enhancement of the natural resources within Otsego County. OCCA engages in five primary activities – education, advocacy, resource management, research and planning – to promote policies and programs that are designed to protect the County’s water, air, soils, wildlife and natural landscapes for current and future generations.

Activities around Otsego Lake include assistance to farms within the watershed to implement water quality improvements, coordination of riparian buffer plantings, major financial support for the Otsego Lake Septic System Management Plan and the Zebra Mussel Inspection program, partnership with Soil & Water Conservation District Hydro-Seeding program (erosion control program implemented during municipal road ditch improvements around Otsego Lake).

Membership in the Otsego County Conservation Association helps to support these programs.

Otsego Lake Watershed Supervisory Committee
The WSC is authorized by the NYS Department of Health to manage the inspection of septic systems within 500 feet of the lake or 100 feet of a tributary stream, and to require upgrades to existing systems that fail to meet acceptance criteria.

Stoddard Hollow String Band
The Stoddard Hollow String Band is based in the upper Catskills and is known for its mix of Appalachian old-time tunes, traditional and original music, and some tunes you wouldn’t expect from an old-time band.  The band consists of Marvin Zachow on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and vocals, Ed McGee on clawhammer banjo and harmonica, and Frank Frazzitta on guitar and vocals.  Zachow was born and raised in Otsego County and learned to play with some of the old-time fiddlers in the area, learning their style of music.  Over the past 20 years he has played with many local musicians and the bands Unclaimed Freight and Iron Kettle String Band.  After a chance meeting with Ed McGee in 2002, the band began to take shape.  McGee was not from this area, but was well-versed in Appalachian music, which made a good fit.  Frizzatta joined the group in 2006, bringing a great respect and influence of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan to the band.  The Stoddard Hollow String Band has played extensively in the Hudson Valley and Catskills, at local farm markets, historical museums and inns, as well as private social gatherings.  For information about the band, call (607) 435-4720 or email Stoddard.hollow@yahoo.com.

USDA-NRCS and Otsego County Soil & Water Conservation District
The NRCS is a Federal Agency that is under the US Dept. of Agriculture. We work with local landowners to promote water quality, habitat quality and better farming practices while using our Farm Bill programs as a tool. All of our programs are voluntary and are on a cost share basis with the landowner. The Otsego County Soil & Water Conservation District is a governmental entity, which receives funding through federal, state, and local agencies. The District promotes water quality, habitat quality and better farming practices but also serves Otsego County residents with a host of different services.
